We’re happy to announce that this week, Terry Ruas (Ph.D.) joined our research group. Terry Ruas has a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science at the University of Michigan – Dearborn (USA). His research interests lie at the intersection of natural language processing, data science, and machine learning applied to text mining to extract semantic features. More specifically, his work is focused on how to obtain semantic features from text documents through different approaches (e.g., lexical chains, word sense disambiguation, word vectors) and use them in applications and tasks. Terry also worked as a Ph.D. researcher at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) (Tokyo, Japan) and in IBM (São Paulo, Brasil), as a Product Manager and IT Specialist.
